Recently, Kabingo Health Centre III was upgraded from health centre II status. Formerly, the healthcentre was operating in one block. The facility did not have a maternity or inpatient wing. We only focused on antenatal and outpatient services.
In terms of human resource, the health centre had few staff who would get overwhelmed and fatigued. In some instances, we would get severely sick children whom we were unable to admit.
However, withv funding from UGIFT, supported by the World Bank, newbuildings have been constructed. The number of staff in different departments, including midwives, hasincreased with the upgrade of the health centre. Previously, only two staff were accommodated at the facility, but they are now four. This has enabled thehealth centre to operate even during the night.
Because of the upgrade to health centre III status, we are able to operate even during the night. Patients can now comfortably get treatment without being referred to another facility. Mothers who wouldgo elsewhere to deliver are now handled at Kabingo Health Centre III
