Enlargement of the capacity of the water reservoir which is supplying about 328cubic metres,
As a district, we had an obligation of providing water to Kabambero sub-county, which was the most waterstressed area. We had several plans and interventions to give safe and clean water to the sub-country, but, unfortunately, we did not have funds. With UGIFT funding, we got a chance of enlarging the capacity of the water reservoir to 328 cubic metres, which is supplying about 3,000 people.
Kabambero Health Centre III which is also a UGIFT project, was connected to safe and clean water alongside other institutions. Currently, 31 villages in Kabambero and Kamwenge town councils, are getting water from the bigger water reservoir. We are grateful to UGIFT. We got a chance of enlarging the capacity of the water reservoir to 3,000 people.

The Effect of the UGIFT financing
With the additional financing from the UgIFT program, the MWE has been unable to see the increase in the amount of software activities being conducted after these activities had been neglected since the reforms in 2015/16 which saw budgets cut from the MWE grants and most affected was the software component non tangible out puts) We have seen and improvement in the number of District Coordination committee meetings being conducted quarterly across most LGs among other activities. This is a very key activity since it bring together all stakeholders in the Local Government to discuss issues and policies as guided the MWE.
In terms of Development work, we have increasingly noted that the number of investments in piped water has increased. MWE haa noted a spike in the number of investments in piped water rising from working on between 45 to 47 systems to now working on between 86 to 89 piped water systems. This includes phased construction, extensions and rehabilitations of piped water.
Also with support from the UGIFT funding, there is an increased investment in water in the institutions as all LGs have been asked to prioritize provision of water to all seed schools and health center II being upgraded to HC IIIs.
In the FY 2021/22 a total of 47 institutions across the country using the District water Grant and these are broken down into 21 Health Centres and 28 Schools
Progress made on the refugee support services
UgIFT financing for refugees underpins allocations to sector conditional grants in health, education, and water and sanitation in refugee-hosting local governments, which has increased over the program period.
Following the World Bank’s approval of additional financing under the UgIFT programme, the Ministry of Education and Sports embarked on the implementation of the components which included the transition of Refugee Hosting Primary Schools in Refugee Hosting Local Governments.
UgIFT earmarked funds for the integration of the delivery of education services across 12 refugee-hosting Local Governments. In regard to Health infrastructure, UgIFT is also supporting the upgrade of HCIIs to HCIIIs within refugee hosting districts.
