The Uganda Intergovernmental Fiscal Transfers (UgIFT) programme Medium-term Review workshop took place on January 24, 2023, at the Lake Victoria Serena Hotel – Kigo.    

Organised by the Ministry of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development, the medium-term review workshop sought to provide a strategic and operational review of the programme performance in order to make proposals to improve the efficiency, effectiveness, relevance, sustainability, and impact.

Among others, the workshop sought to assess the performance of the program against the Key Result Areas, assess the performance of the program against cross-cutting issues/aspects, and the institutional, implementation, and oversight arrangements of the Programme. The workshop also aimed at assessing whether the program is likely to achieve its overall development objective.

Organised by the Ministry of Finance, Planning, and Economic Development meeting was attended by the State Minster of State for Micro Finance and Small Enterprises, Hon. Haruna Kyeyune together with the acting Director Budget Ishmael Magona. Representatives from other Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) included among others, the Education Ministry Permanent Secretary, Kate Lamaro, and the Health Ministry Permanent Secretary, Dr. Diana Atwine. 

The World Bank representatives were led by the World Bank Country Manager in Uganda, Ms. R. Mukami Karuiki. Prior to the medium-term review meeting, the Finance Ministry convened a meeting that was attended by World Bank officials and other MDAs, in which it offered an update on the restructuring position of UgIFT and discussed highlights from the findings of the UgIFT 7th Joint Monitoring Report.
